1. Installing and setting the 2013 mod
The mod for season 2013 is contained in a single archive file, which can be downloaded HERE. You also need a clean (no other mods) installation of rFactor. After opening the archive file (maintaining the folder structure), you must copy all the contents from the folder BRL 2013 MOD 1.0 FINAL to the main folder of your new rFactor installation. When Windows asks you to replace existing files and folders, select Yes to All and wait for the copy process to complete. After you have installed the mod, you must go into the main folder of your rFactor installation and start the rF Config.ext file, then select DX9 (Quality) (see Screenshot 1). This is mandatory! Using DX7 or DX8 would prevent the mod from running properly. When entering the game for the first time after installing the mod, it is possible that you don't see the cars or you get an error. This shouldn't worry you. Just exit the game and start it again, and all should be fine. It is mandatory to set the connection type to LAN from the Connect->Settings menu (see Screenshot 2 and 3). This is done for better connectivity between your client and the server. note: Click on the screenshot thumbnails to zoom in to full size.

Installing the rFDynHud plugin to get in-car telemetry and other information Any driver who wants, may install rFDynHud, which is a HUD plugin for receiving real-time information and car telemetry while driving on the track. You can find more information about the installation and setting up the plugin in the following video: 3. Information about the mod In the folder "Setups By Hristo Itchov" you can find some base car setups, with different settings of downforce and suspension stiffness, with the following name convention:
These settings are taken straight from the PDF guide of the Formula Reiza car and although they do not fit entirely with the changed physics of the mod, the setups work fairly well. The default setup is further updated and everyone is advised to use it as their base, and only use any of the other base setups to get some ideas for fine tuning, such as 3rd springs, bump rubbers and ride height. * The optimal tyre temperature range is created following the Pirelli specification for 2013, as follows:
* You can find the PDF guides of Formula Reiza included in the mod, for those of you who are interested to learn more about certain details, such as the aerodynamics of the car. Keep in mind though, that many of the physics parameters are different, especially when it comes down to the tyres and engines. |
